Disco Bitch (Shook Remix).mp3

INTERVIEW.

1. What is the electronic music scene like in your area of the Netherlands? Is there a group of artists you enjoy surrounding yourself with?

The electronic music scene is pretty lively here in The Netherlands. Specially in Amsterdam. Artists from around here I really enjoy are Grand Jackson, Auxiliary the Masterfader and Roger72 & The Walk.

2. Your songs/remixes create this very lush, other-worldly environment, has getting to your current state been a gradual or speedy process? How did you first start getting into creating your own songs?

Definitely a gradual process. I had all sorts of periods where I made all kinds of music. First I made loads of trippy stuff. Then there was a period where everything was more hard hitting. It’s a gradual flow that keeps changing. I started making music because it aloud me to escape. It was an outlet: you can go where ever you want to.

3. What programs/hardware do you use for your production? live?

For production I use FL Studio 7 and a bunch of synth bargains. For live sets I use Ableton and a midi controller.

4. The live set on your profile (Amstereo, Dec 2008) features music from some of my favorite artists in the dance world….Diplo, Laidback Luke, Sebastian, Santogold etc….who are some artists you are especially loving right now?

Siriusmo.

5. If you could collaborate with any artist, alive or not, who would it be?

I would have to say Michael Jackson, and I would love to have a jam session with Herbie Hancock.

6. Coming to the U.S. anytime soon?

Unfortunately no gigs planned at the very moment. But hopefully I get booked there soon.

7. What are some big plans for SHOOK in 2010?

The Disco Bitch (Shook remix) will get a release on Blacklabel Records (Amsterdam) any time soon. Early 2010 my first EP will be finished. It will contain a few tracks that were first presented on “The Red Tapes” and a few new ones. I’m also doing a few exciting vocal collaborations which I can’t say too much about yet.

INTERVIEW

1. How are you?

I am as splendid as the first time I bathed in a kiddy pool full of tapioca and orange soda.

2. Is there an electronic scene in Bellingham, Washington? Do you hang out with a group of like-minded artists?

Ha ha, there is no electronic scene in Bellingham. Unless you consider a Top 40 DJ lacing together Madonna and T-Pain by pushing one button in Serato while girls with tramp stamps and too much make up are grinding on bro’s and spilling fruity mixed drinks a music scene.

On the other hand I have met a few like minded artists. I am currently working on a new Hip Hop project with an MC I met here. Doing some acoustic guitar stuff as well. People are more into organic oat bongos and guitars made out of all natural hemp seeds here, using them to play Sublime covers in 2009. The music scene feels quite stagnant if you ask me.

3. The environments you create as IG88 are dazzling, other than music, what are you most inspired by?

My inspiration comes from Sci-Fi, Energy Drinks, Field Recordings, Obscure vinyl samples and rain.

4. Best show you’ve been to so far?

I think the best show I have been to so far would be The Notwist in Seattle. Jel & Odd Nosdam played before them, jamming while clutching 40 oz’s it was amazing. Pretty much any Anticon show.

5. If you could collaborate with any artist, living or dead, who would it be?

If I could collaborate with any artist it would be to go back in time and drop acid with The Beatles so i could make an innovative song that are deep and conceptual, like a song about holding hands or something.. yeah The Beatles are great.

Actually that would be awful.. I would have to say Doseone

6. Any interesting plans for IG88 in 2010?

2010 will be interesting, I have 2 albums coming out. A new electronica/ambient/trip hop release were I am writing most of the tracks with another artist named Ricky Wilson (www.myspace.com/rickywilson) called Corporate Raiders From Dimension X

Also the Hip Hop project with Beige will be released sometime 2010 as well.
