With a constant flow of music being created, I feel it’s easy to get lost in it all. We can shuffle through so many tracks, and forget the beings behind it, tied to this mortal world of life and death. This tribute EP to the late DJ Rashad, giving all proceeds to his family is a reminder of the power of friendship, compassion and the enduring spirit. For Travis Stewart (Machinedrum) to work so closely with this man, creatively and personally and lose him must have been traumatic. These songs sat unfinished for some time, while he and everyone else processed his passing. We should remember that energy never dies, and is simply transferred. Like a relay, this energetic baton has been given to us, to continue and move forward. These tracks are a wonderful addition to the juke community, and I feel blessed to hear them.
