Snoop Dogg’s opening vocals set the tone for one of the best records of 2010, the Gorillaz’ “Plastic Beach”.

For me I’m always drawn to artists who are about ideas, developing a theme around their music, and the Gorillaz have been developing their animated universe since 1998.

2D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle and Russel Hobbs have put together quite the album. The combination of dynamic collaborations with Mos Def, Snoop Dogg, Lou Reed, Bobby Womack and De La Soul (to name a few) and lyrical references that capture the current state of the world in a fresh and expansive style is truly inspiring to hear.

The Gorillaz will be keeping up the momentum of this release by headlining the final night of the 2010 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Fellow artists for the 3-day event include Thom Yorke, LCD Soundsystem, The Gossip, MGMT, Muse, Flying Lotus, Rusko, Passion Pit, Imogen Heap, Deadmau5, Major Lazer, Dirty Projectors, Sleigh Bells, Plastikman and Phoenix +++++++++++++++
