The music is going great, I’m currently working with some very cool people on the London scene, I am doing a track with illaman(tombcrew) which is going to be sick, he is an amazing mc and the track is gonna be banging really excited about this one…I’m also just finished a collab with an American rapper called Dr. Mario, he’s great he just put a vocal on a track of mine called “Miracle’ its actually very “pop” but its got some soul to it, its defo one for the dancefloors, its gonna be a crossover track (I hope) for both the underground and more commercial audience, got some amazing up and comin producers doing remixes for that, a guy called “Rough Draft” from Canada, as usual im still djing ,as you know just dropped the latest mix, “THE GOLD ELEPHANT” its a complete mash up of bass genres, I really wanted to push the barrier with this one so I threw caution to the wind and just went all in..
My fav artists at the moment would have to be this guy “Rough Draft”, from the underground scene, he is killing it. Over here in London I’m loving TOMB CREW, a DJ duo who are smashing it, there everywhere at the moment and they deserve it, just saw them do a set at “FABRIC” at the drop the lime party, it was crazy.. more commercial but still killing it is “LA RIOTS” he is banging out some serious remixes, ALSO cant forget my girl “KATY B” she is causing some serious talks.. just broke through into the top 5 official charts, which gives me hope that people are starting to recognize good music needs to be supported by actually buying the music… http://soundcloud.com/afropunkno1

INTERVIEW WITH DATABASE. 1. When were you two first introduced to electronic music?
6 Years ago… we use to do the college film school partys here in são paulo
2. You’re from Sao Paulo, I’d love to visit sometime! What’s the electronic scene like in your area?
You should come sometime, the scene here is one of the biggest in the world, you can find clubs with electronic music everyday and we have a HUGE nightlife. I’m glad we have that so we really can make money from music in brazil. 3. Your songs showcase strong, full production. It’s got that extra kick. What’s your production process like? How has it developed since you first got things going?
We both always like to test new synths and new things for the remixes and singles…we work together, but Yuri has more experience with it.
We went to the west cost, played in LA, San diego and San Francisco. Playing in America is really good, everyone is really into the music, so its a pleasure to play in the U.S. always. 5. As a listener so far, you two exude a lot of energy, a fresh perspective..what kind of impression would you like to leave with your art?
+ To tie in with this post I have a Database remix by MMMatthias! His dark alleyway take on the originally sexy tune is an interesting contrast – I like! Glad to have MMMatthias back on Disco Droppings.
INTERVIEW WITH MMMATTHIAS. 1. How did you get turned onto Database? What kind of feel were you going for with your remix of “Miami”?
We got in contact due to our former booker, who was supposed to plan their Europe tour, which didn’t work out unfortunately. I wanted to give the remix the feeling of the “not so nice”-side of miami, because all tracks about Miami are “party & sunshine”…but Miami is also a pretty nasty city.
2. What do you got going on for the rest of the year?
Just singed another EP on German Traktor Records…details soon 🙂
