Ramadanman has quickly become a producer I hold very close to my heart. His recent Fabriclive is coming out of my speakers errday, and the chance to see him live tomorrow will be a mega huge ball of fun. His productions are astounding, and his work ethic is consistent and forward moving. He’s one of the best out there right now I’d say. Come find me on that dance floor tonight..
Oh snaps! This is awesome. Krystal Klear in the DD house! His “Tried For Your Love” EP was released on All City Records earlier last year (buy onBeatport), and a single on Cooly G’s, Dub Organizer label was released last November! whoaaa. I feel the grooves this guy makes, very airy and memory filled. perfect for all occasions..

INTERVIEW
x
DD: Do many nostalgic memories come out of your head when you’re making these songs?
x
I wouldn’t necessarily say nostalgic memories, because Im generally not thinking that far in the past but without a doubt certain memories of my everyday life play a role in the creation process.
x
DD: If your music was the soundtrack to any 80’s movie, which would you choose?
x
Wow…brilliant…mmmm..Some John Hughes Movie would be super funny, flash synths and slap basses everywhere but for me it have to be Back To The Future 2, the only film that would shut me up as a kid…I would only do it if Huey Lewis was on call for vocal performance.
x
DD: The Hoya:Hoya list of past artists is like an orgasm. I read a nice article about the club night in Mixmag..what have you enjoyed most about being a resident there?
x
Theres very little about Hoya I don’t enjoy, Its always a great feeling to feel your a part of something especially with people you admire and respect so I feel super blessed to have be giving the opportunity by the guys.I think Hoya is home for me now and in this game you do a lot of strange gigs and alot of crap ones and i think myself and the hoya crew are very lucky in that we have that to come back to every month.

DD: Touring near Seattle anytime soon?
I’m in the U.S. and Canada this August and September so if Seattle want me…holla at me
Gots to share some recent songs from SeePM, gots to

INTERVIEW
DD: Whatsuppppppppppp?
SP: hello mate, not much – just about to go and play some squash and sweat it out on my lunch break! …. actually, those are some noises i should sample….!
DD: What’s squash like?
SP: A lot of fun, man. It’s a good way to bang out some stress and sweat your nuts off for 45 minutes!

DD: Haha..The “One Step Closer (See PM Rejig)” is very bright and sunny sounding. How’d you enjoy putting that one together?
SP: Thanks man. Yeah it’s fun to mash up a pop ‘classic’ every now and again haha. Not sure why, but I’ve had an urge to destroy this particular pop atrocity for a while now and I have to say it was pretty satisfying. All the brightness (emotional and sonic) comes from the sample really – i just had to fuck with it and fill it out with some funky synths!
DD: oooO so exciting SeePM. Well you’ve got lots of love from myself and Disco Droppings, any final words for now?
SP: Just thanks for the continued support man. Massively appreciate the love. Big love from London!
DD: I really enjoy these strange, stretched out moods you create. How would you describe your music?
Not sure really how to describe it. Several people have mentioned that it has enhanced their drug experiences. I strive to incorporate the dreaminess of shoegaze, creative use of samples like Disco Inferno / Laika / Moonshake, quirky song structure of Polvo backed with old school and modern beats. So far it’s been hit and miss, but perhaps in time everything might come together a bit better. Every finished track is on soundcloud regardless of the outcome.

DD:You’re from Everett, Wa – nice to find a local! What artists from around here are you into? How about in other parts on the world?
All of these can be found on souncloud:
thunderclap headachefrom Seattle is brilliant and has great diversity, if you aren’t really feeling one there are probably 10 others you will
Gloamdown in Vancouver always has something unique going on
Crazy Old Batputs out lots of extra creepy bass-heavy tracks.
Probably no need to mention how great Hudson Mohawke, Rustie, etc… are so I’ll stick with lesser knowns from soundcloud. Following 400+ artists/labels/blogs and every one of them are talented and wonderful in their own way! Some faves off the top of my head:
Young Montana? / Stephen Farris / Daylight Rain / Ohsaurus – all of Grappa Frisbee / S. Maharba / Lockbox / Al_pd / brokenchord / Say My Name / Sly Vintage / Impossible Nothing / Drugg / Old Arc / oa koak
DD: What got you interested in producing?
x
A lifelong obsession with music and a gnawing feeling in the stomach that had to be dealt with. I’ve always had the interest but failed using just a drum machine, or picking up an actual instrument. Huge amount of respect for those who can pull it off live, but my interests lie solely in putting sounds together on the laptop from scratch without sampling another artists work. Of course there is nothing wrong with sampling the work of others, just made a decision not to go down that path and keep focused on trying to create new sounds.
DD: What plans do you have as an artist for 2011?
An ep is about half finished for a net label. If they are satisfied with the results it should be out in a few months hopefully. Spending lots of time building up a library of random noise samples. Might end up using all sampled sounds for awhile. There are so many people on soundcloud that have the Brainfeeder / 8 bit / blunted hip hop beats mastered that I will just enjoy what they are doing and not duplicate it. Since 2010 was my first year producing wanted to keep it real simple. 2011 should involve more learning and watching more youtube production videos. Really need to get the beat skills improved.
DD: What’s the best show you’ve seen in your life so far?
My Bloody Valentine 4.28.2009 at the WAMU theatre. My all time favorite band by far. Dream come true to finally see them live, and of course the sound level was overwhelming which added to the enjoyment.
Best overall artistic performance would be the Faust show I was fortunate enough to attend. Anytime a member of the band ends up buck naked wielding a chainsaw by the end of the show you know it’s been a good one.
x
A very close honorable mention for artistic performance would be any number of Caroliner Rainbow shows.

DD: Last words?
I really love this blog. To find someone that was writing about the people I follow and listen to every day was really cool. Here’s to much success for Disco Droppings in the future! We are all so fortunate to be able to create and then instantly share with others. The beat scene has been a wonderful breath of fresh air the past few years because besides grime, hip-hop had pretty much died for me long ago.
A huge thank you to my wife who has always supported me and is for the most part pretty patient when it’s only going to be “20 minutes” to finish some part of a song. Thanks to all who listen and create!
DD: How long have you been producing Alex? You have a very clean sound!
x
K: Well I started producing about a year and a half ago maybe, something like that. I started on Reason 4 trying to make some decent tunes, then a mate showed me Ableton and I thought it was much easier to use, so I carried on using it ;] .
DD: Ahh yessss I love Ableton more and more. What got you into electronic music? Did you immediately want to become a producer?
K: Yeh its got some proper nice features! well I just fell upon it one day, was just looking through youtube then I found Bar9 – Midnight and i didn’t look back haha, a mate of mine had a copy of reason, so i went down his house to check it out. i really enjoyed the idea of making your own tunes, so I decided to get myself a copy of reason and have some fun :].
DD: Where do you see your sound going as the year continues?
K: Well i wanna try and concentrate on making more darker stuff, because that’s what I enjoy producing! i just need to find the right sounds first, hopefully it will come in time :].
DD: Your off to a good track, I think you’re on fire. Just listened to “Darkness”, deeeeeeep. Also “Hex” just knocked me over!
K: nice one man! that’s the sort of stuff i wanna carry on making, should be making a few more tunes that in the near future, watch out for Sonisphere and Torn, should be going up on youtube shortly ;] (Kommon’s youtube channel)

DD: Alright last question, what’s the best encouragement you’ve gotten as an artist?
K: Hmm thats a tricky one haha, but the best encouragement is when people say they like my tracks :] it makes me want to make something even better!!
