Hi there! Hope ya’ll are well. I’ve let this blog chill for a bit while I worked on some other areas, and now I have new productions to share. This past summer I collaborated with my good friend WD4D on a track. We brought our vibes together, this one showcasing more of his ideas and production, giving credit where credit is due. What came through is U Kno, a playful hip-hop tune with local remixes enlisted by Sphyramid and OCnotes. The artwork was done by Seattle local Jesse Danger Dyer, the idea being to create a new creature inspired by WD4D’s and my energies combined. Pins celebrating the release are available now through the Care Package Bandcamp.

Over the last few years I’ve been experimenting more with creating ambient music. This was in a way centered around making background music that has played quietly on my Hollow Earth Radio Disco Droppings shows each Thursday (5PM-7 PST), and going through a personal grieving process about my mother. Recently I felt that enough material was gathered to turn into a release. I used a picture I took right here in Washington on the ferry as the artwork and had my friend Crebenebez master the 4-track release called Ambience. I would say this is the largest original body of music of my own that I have shared so far. Presented on 7 Deadly Records, the label I operate which joins a varied collection of music. This recently was lifted up by Dave Segal over at The Stranger, who named my EP one of the best local releases of 2019.

The same producer who mastered that ambient journey, Crebenebez, followed that up with an adventurous EP One on the Disco Droppings bandcamp. He is out of Vancouver B.C., friend and collaborator with my label mate Working Class, who is featured on 2 tracks. I am super impressed by the way they presented this release to me fully formed, needing zero constructive critiques on the music. I had one small suggestion laying out the artwork done by James Moore, which was for the most part, already realized. Big cheers to everyone involved with that release and Crebenebez for creating tunes with such vibrancy, and for allowing me to release them.

Greetings! Here’s Disco Droppings sonic journey into Recess Festival 2015 in Tonasket, Washington. Love this name first of all, reminds me of that rad cartoon from my childhood and of course, all those times of freedom in elementary school. Fitting cause that’s just the vibe they are going to create, check their description! Happy to lift up these artists, and salutes to everyone on the roster, all planning to attend and of course the crew organizing the shenanigans. I’ll be one year older, and what a way to celebrate. Charging up energy..

I remember the first time I interacted with Machinedrum aka Travis Stewart. I was given the opportunity to perform at Decibel Festival 2012’s Warp Records Showcase, opening up the night for Jimmy Edgar, Clark and Travis. It was the highest profile show I had played so far, and the challenge was just what I needed to think bigger and further develop my own voice. I remember him coming on stage towards the end of my set when I was playing some Slick Shoota, bobbing his head and singing along. From then on, I become more and more enamored by this man, both for his hefty amount of quality productions, and his friendly demeanor. Daft Punk are still my main dudes, but I watch them from afar. It’s just a pure gift to cross paths with Machinedrum over the years since that Warp show. He is truly one of the most talented and visionary artists around. I was there at the Vapor City Live debut at dB Fest 2013, the Jets show that same year, Vapor City live in Portland in 2014, and now this Machinedrum show at Crocodile in 2015. Once again, I felt like this was a culmination of everything I had learned, and another challenge to better myself and add my own energy into the night. This wouldn’t have happened if it weren’t for the artists creating these songs. Followers of this site should recognize a few friends that have come through in interviews over the years. Big shout-out to my favorite producer to come thru Disco Droppings, XI, whose on the very first track of the mix. Shout-outs to Embassy Recordings, Broodlings, Slick Shoota, HxdB and WD4D, who you’ll also hear. And respect to DJ Rashad and the Teklife family, who you’ll see represented..

It was a total joy to work with The Crocodile on this show. Thank you to all the staff, and especially Shaina for allowing my intern Beck Ninneman and I to bring in additional lights, and granting us some brand new subs. The vibes were fierce and rowdy. It was that show I’ve dreamed about since I started, where everything just clicks.
