This man. I can’t get enough, dude is just always on his own trip. Jimmy Edgar continues to dazzle the world with every one of his artistic endeavors. I knew when Machinedrum got the go ahead for an Essential Mix, his best buddy Jimmy wasn’t far behind. Head to Ultramajic lands now, this man is the supreme guide.

This chick is somethin’ else. I wrote about her first Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1 in 2012; a set that raised the bar for holding a consistent sonic theme. She really blew me away with that one, expanding my understanding of possibilities in the DJ realm. Well she is back, invited by Pete Tong to showcase yet another 2 hour mix. Many artists dream of one day being featured on the Essential Mix, and Maya Jane Coles clearly shows she’s worth another go.

The standout track to me comes in about halfway through her set, Daniel Stefanik’s remix of Marbert Rocel’s “Small Hours”..

Maya’s debut album Comfort will be released next month..

This Warp Records artist delivered a brilliant Essential Mix for the BBC last week. His blissful yet heavy, funked out environment in last year’s Glass Swords album is highly recommended. Rustie is showing us the future, re-wiring the spectrum of musical expression just as Hudson Mohawke and Flying Lotus continue to do. Rustie has included tracks from Dreams, The Blessings, Obey City, Surkin, Lone, Krystal Klear as well of many of his own stellar productions. Keep an eye on Disco Droppings, you may see some of these artists featured with interviews in the near future.
