Wave Machines – Keep The Lights On (Metal On Metal Remake) by Metal On Metal

Wild Beasts – We Still Got The Taste Dancing On Our Tongues (Metal On Metal Remake) by Metal On Metal

INTERVIEW.

1. How were you first introduced to electronic music?

Through erotic movies, which we were watching as teenagers. And through KLF circa 1991.

2. How has your music-making process developed over time?

We became faster. The first song, we recorded it in half a year. Now it usually takes up two weeks for a remake. Hopefully, one day we’ll be as productive as Kris Menace.
Also, we bought some good machines. Use it how you like it, but computer is not enough.

3. Currently, who are some of your favorite artists?

New ones: Gonjasufi, Sambassadeur, Kindness, John Grant, Four Tet, Theopilus London

Old ones we’re re-listening right now: Rodriguez, Roxy Music, Roedelius, Donovan

4. What are you most excited to work on in 2010?

We’ve just finished new Wild Beasts remake for “We Still Got The Taste Dancing On Our Tongues”, we’re mastering two others – new song for Lost Valentinos & new one for Bear In Heaven. The second part of the year will be massive. Plus, we’re working on our second EP due in winter, 2010.

5. What would you say to anyone interested in going after their musical interests?

You’ll rot in hell, if you deceive the music you love and go on to make something which is “hot/in/fashionable”. Be warned!

INTERVIEW.

1. Whatsup Pat! How long have you been Dj’ing/Producing?

What up Trev, I have been djing for about 5 years, I learnt on belt drivin “American DJ” turntables haha, ridiculous…started producing halfway through last year and took a more serious approach to the whole package at the start of 2010.

2. What was your introduction to electronic music? An specific shows or moments when you know it would be your thing?

I started wanting to be a DJ after seeing the DJ from 28days scratching on videohits…strangely enough, and so I began the journey from hip hop to breaks to house music.

3. What’s the electronic music scene like in your part of Australia? I’m a huge fan of Brain Matters and the Trouble Agency crew…

It is massive!!! Everyone is a DJ in Sydney, it’s crazy. The scene here is really growing into something huge and spreading even to the small towns out west. Yeah, Brain Matters and the Trouble Agency are the tits!!

4. Currently, who are some of your favorite artists?

Of course, dav Winnel, Benson and Northie (NXE), Word!

It’s hard to say I guess it’s always changing, my all time favourite artist would have to include arrested development, bombfunk mcs, krafty kuts, kid kenobi, D Cup, Wolfgang Gartner, and the notorious Spice Girls but the list goes on.

5. What are your plans for the rest of 2010?

I have a bunch of gigs lined up at a few clubs and events around the Sydney area that I’m really exited about, releasing my first official remix for Count Effectz soon and just overall working on my production and Djing in general.

+++++One of Sydney’s finest House Music Radio Sessions. Every Friday night, fREW and The astronaught (ocassionally DAVE WINNEL) take your ears to another galaxy from 9:00 pm-10:30pm on 2SER, 107.3 FM. Playing the latest an most exhilarating house music known to mankind.

1. It’s been a little while since your last feature on Disco Droppings, glad to have you back! How’s the music been going?

Music is going good but never the best…I need to work my ass off to be able to create something people and I would say “shit, listening to this track is better than sex!” ehehe.

2. As an artist yourself, what would you say to anyone excited about music making and developing as an artist?

All I can say is…never give up. I know its cheesy and obvious but this is the only thing I can come up with.

3. What’s in the works for Sasa G for the remainder of 2010?

I am going to change the name sasaG and have JayJay and Tobel from KATFYR on board as producer and co-singer. And try to release my songs as soon as possible.

” Teaming up with the mighty Calvertron, and after much blood, sweat and tears, they laid down the track ‘Up n Down’, phat disco loops fused with sick basslines cuts.

It came about from following each other musical styles for the past 10 years, and taking each others sound and wedging into one collaboration..”- N-Ton

Lets Rock The Party (Zero Cash Remix).mp3

INTERVIEW.

1. How were you introduced to electronic music?

I started listening to electronic music with 13 years in the early nineties.
During this time i got really flashed by the rocking noises of 303’s and all
the other acid-machines. I bought as much records with these “new” sound
and started Djing and producing, because I felt in love with the idea of
making a record without having a band.

2. How has your music creation process developed over time? Sound like your having a lot of fun!

The creation process totally changed over the years. When I started doing electronic music, nobody used a computer. Just step-sequenced drumcomputers and synths. So, you had to finish your song before you turned of your gear because most of the machines were not able to save/store any data. Each song was a live recording. Today, the computer is almost the heart of my studio. Besides some machines I still use like the Elektron Monomachine, Roland Tr-707 and some other analog synths, everything comes into and out of the computer. So, because the ability of saving songs and total-recall, the songs get more detailed and worked out. Most of the time it’s good to work like this, but sometimes you create more “special moments” when you create the songs live.

3. Currently, who are some of your favorite artists?

I like tracks from Siriusmo, Hey Today!, Louis la Roche, Flying Lotus, Anti-Pop Consortium, Clark, Mr.Oizo, Light Year, Xinobi….

4. What is the electronic scene like in your area?

Cologne is still a little bit minimal infected which is not really my taste, but
there are some promoters starting party’s with a bigger variety. I would say the scene is not really great! 😉

5. Your “Fuck The Money EP” has just been released, how would describe this collection of songs?

The three songs should represent some styles I like. So they are not really homogenic but I think my “sound” brings them together to something that makes sense as an ep. I wanted a collection of tracks which rock at the club and also work good at home.
